The Rocky Mountain Fungi collection, consists of isolates from surveys conducted at the University of Wyoming in 1963 -1999(Part I) and 2000 to 2001(Part II) using soils from about 67 sites - - deserts, grasslands, tundra, forests - - in North America including 7 Long-term Ecological Research sites (LTER), designated and funded through NSF. Isolates of soil fungi from about 48 sites in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America are included in the RMF collection as well, primarily in the RMF WT series(Part I, 1963-1999) and RMF Part II, 2000-2001(Amazon, Fair Isle and Namibia collections).
